Explanation
VormWeb is a German Darknet search engine that started in November 2020 as a simple search alternative for the open Internet (Clearnet), but later failed, switched to Darknet services and adapted itself to such successfully.
The Darknet is overfilled with spam and scam sites, as well as numerous clones of legitimate services, which makes it difficult to check their genuineness.
Because of that, we in the VormWeb project are focussing on indexing truely genuine news, E-Mail, chat, market, forum, community and software-related sites and put value on quality. This separates us from any other Darknet search engine, which are indexing plenty of clones from the Darknet daily.
Our Darknet search engine is accessible on the Clearnet, but also on the Darknet.
So that people with less experience can also use our search engine, we keep all pages clear and minimalistic.
VormWeb is completely free of JavaScript, ads and trackers and does not collect sensitive information of any user.
We recommend you to use our hidden service, as it provides a higher anonymity thanks to 6 layers of encryption due to the connection with the Tor network.
The Search
The VormWeb search mechanism is not as developed as the known Clearnet search engines due to the way the Darknet works.
Searching is possible with at least 3 letters to get shown results, which we have indexed both manually and with a crawler.
We are not using a ranking system to manipulate the search results. You see what everybody else sees.
We recommend you to write your queries in English if you couldn't find any search results, as the Darknet is not very popular in other languages.
As soon as you click on one of the links, you're leaving our search engine and get redirected.
We are not responsible for the content you see on third-party sites.
Security levels
The search results you can find on our search engine are categorized into three security levels.
Verified
Darknet sites listed with this badge have been checked by us through various methods (for example PGP signatures, Clearnet mirror sites, user experiences or reliable link directories such as
tor.taxi and
daunt.link) and are both safe, as well as genuine.
Commercial services with this badge are known not to scam.
Verified search results do come with the possibility for users to check the PGP signatures given by site operators independently, so that trusting us is not necessary. That, however, depends on site operators providing such signatures.
Warning
Darknet sites listed with this badge have been found by our crawler and might stand before a pending check for legitimacy, making it not possible to title those as genuine yet.
Commercial services with this badge have not been checked and shouldn't be used without self research about their genuineness. Possible entries with this badge are newly surfaced Darknet link directories, search engines, markets and other service providers.
We're not signalizing that the Darknet sites with this badge absolutely must be scams or clones, the possibility can't be dismissed either. The user must find out whether such commercial services are genuine or not by themselves in this case, if they want to use those.
Risky
Darknet sites listed with this badge are cloned sites, scam or such with potentially malicious software.
We especially recommend the deactivation of JavaScript functionality in your Tor Browser here to guarantee security.
A minor amound of entries may reoccur with this badge by mistake. We will recategorize them when finding out.
Search utilities
We have implemented small utilities in the search function to facilitate the exploration of the Darknet with VormWeb. The context of these utilities are available in both German and English.
Darklexika
Darklexika is an utility of VormWeb to summarize information about any Darknet service or known person. The information are contained in a gray box next to the search results and are similar to an encyclopedia, although we don't provide entire wiki pages.
Darkglossary
Darkglossary is an utility of VormWeb wherewith certain words in the relevant IT spaces of the Darknet can be searched to get a definition. Words like these are those commonly used on forums.
What is Tor?
The Tor Project was founded in 2002, which turned the concept of an overlay network made by US developers from universities and the US navy into reality.
With this technology, called "onion routing", the Tor Network protects it's users from surveillance and control of ISPs, tech enterprises and governments.
To be able to connect into this network for the purpose of surfing, the Tor Project developed the Tor Browser.
The Tor Browser is a Firefox fork and is set up to let it's users look unique and return the same browser information for the reduction of identifiable metadata as a fingerprint.
The "Hidden services" (nowadays also called "Onion services") are hidden sites which make up the "Darknet". One can only enter the Darknet through a connection to the Tor Network (With the Tor Browser Bundle).
All hidden services are 56 letters long (Onion v3) and end with the Internet-TLD
.onion.
More about Tor can be found here.
Blocked contents
We completely refuse to index sites which portray contents of the sexual abuse or raping of children, youth or women.
The results for those search queries are blocked and heavily filtered on our crawler, so that nothing of this can pass through our databases.
Instead, we display a warning and support websites for people with such urges or who suffer from pedophilia/hebephilia.
Under these circumstances, complete freedom applies to all other Darknet content, as we stand by the principle of freedom from censorship.
Warning
We are not in cooperation with the linked sites that you can find on our site. We also do not show these links in return of payments.
We link to these sites for educational and informational purposes only and we take no liability for the content displayed on such sites.
Likewise, we assume no liability for the activities of our users.
This means: If you are caught or unmasked during illegal activities, threatened on the Darknet or blackmailed in black markets, we do not bear any responsibility for you!
You were warned.
Neither VormWeb, nor any of the other services provided by the Vormrodian Projects were created with an incentive for profiting.
Since we do not show any telemedia offered for a fee, there's no obligation to require an imprint according to German telecommunications law (ยง 5 TMG), for we count as private individuals.
